Jr. FLL Teams

Jr.FLL®

Jr.FLL® participants are ages six to nine (five year olds may also be accepted), with up to six children per team. It is a hands-on program designed to capture young children's inherent curiosity, and direct it toward discovering the possibilities of improving the world around them. Jr.FLL® teaches the benefits of teamwork, sparks initial interest in STEM, introduces basic design skills through a hands-on approach with the familiarity and fun of LEGO building, and it provides a culture of sharing and learning from others.

Like FLL®, Jr.FLL® teams work on a real-world problem. They are guided by adult coaches, and use LEGO® elements and moving parts to build ideas and concepts. They capture their research on a Show-Me poster, which they present along with their LEGO® model for review.

Through their participation, children are introduced to life skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, self-confidence, and presentation skills.

For the 2012 - 2013 season, Longfellow Spanish Immersion Magnet K-8 School is being represented by the following four Jr.FLL® teams:

Escuela Longfellow "LEGO GO"
Kindergarten, first, and second grades

Escuela Longfellow "Ninjas"
First, second, and third grades

Escuela Longfellow "Competers"
